New
Health Centre in Cappawhite is Officially Opened The
Chairman of the South Eastern Health Board, Dr. Jack Gallagher, officially
opened the new Cappawhite Health Centre, Co. Tipperary, on Wednesday, 24th
April 2002. This
new health centre has been built as part of an extensive programme of
developing new centres or extending existing centres throughout the
region. In
the past few years, in South Tipperary, the Board has developed facilities
in Tipperary, Fethard, Dundrum, Cahir, Clogheen and Ballyporeen, and
developments are planned for Ballymacarbry and Mullinahone.
This is a significant amount of investment in a relatively short
time span. This is in addition to the St. Josephs Hospital Development
which is the biggest capital investment currently being undertaken by the
South Eastern Health Board. This
centre now provides accommodation for the local General Practitioner and
his support staff, District Public Health Nurse, and local Community
Welfare Officer, and other visiting staff of the Board. The
development of the Centre is in line with the Department of Health and
Childrens Primary Care Strategy which aims to develop primary care
centres throughout the country. Speaking
at the official opening, the Chairman, Dr. Jack Gallagher, congratulated
the Building Contractor Stephen Hennessy on the excellent standard of work
at the centre. He also congratulated Donal Deering and Colm Walsh from the
Boards Technical Services Department, for their design of the building
and supervision of the project, and Howard Beardmore and Michael Guinan of
the Technical Services Department in South Tipperary for their work. He
said the Board and its officials could be justifiably proud that
Cappawhite has a purpose built Health Centre with first class
accommodation for the public and those who work there, so that high
quality services could be provided for the people of the district.
