Health Promotion and Sport

Tipperary GAA and the South Eastern Health Board are launching a Health Promotion Partnership, on Wednesday 12th June at 8.00 p.m. in Brú Ború, Cashel.

The South Eastern Heath Board is presenting 2,000 training bibs to Tipperary GAA.  These high quality training bibs carry a healthy message “Be active, be happy, be healthy” to reinforce the importance of health and sport. Two sets of bibs will be given to each Juvenile Club in the Tipperary catchment area.  Each club is sending an adult and Under 14 representative who will wear club colours to the presentation.

Dr. Jack Gallagher, Chairman of the South Eastern Health Board, said he was pleased that this partnership was being launched. “Young people are the adults of the future and people who are involved in sports tend to take care of themselves that little bit more than others.  Integrating health promotion into normal life is a challenge for all of us but one that links naturally with sport.  I would like to thank everyone who was involved in organising this excellent health promotion opportunity and to wish the clubs well in all of their games.”

Mr. Con Hogan, Chairman, Tipperary County Board GAA, who was instrumental in bringing this partnership together, said “Tipperary GAA is delighted to be associated with the South Eastern Health Board in this important initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle among our young players.”
