Return to Nursing Practice - A New Career Again

Are you a registered general or psychiatric Nurse who has not been nursing for some years and who would like to return to nursing practice? If so, then the Return to Nursing Practice Programme runs at the Centre of Nurse Education, HSE, South Eastern Area, in Waterford Regional Hospital, may be of interest to you.

Ms. Breda Adamson, Specialist Co-ordinator says, “This An Bord Altranais approved course is a great opportunity for nurses to return to a newly invigorated career.  There have been many positive changes in nursing since the 1998 Report of the Commission on Nursing.  The career structure and salary scales have been improved making nursing a progressive career.  Course lecturers and facilitators are drawn from various speciality areas within the nursing services to ensure that course participants have access to the widest range of skills.  The six week course will give nurses the opportunity to update their knowledge and skills and gives an introduction to modern advances in nursing care”.

Applicants who have been out of nursing for the past five years must be registered with An Bord Altranais.  The course is offered free of charge and participants are entitled to a tax-free bursary on completion of the course.

Application forms or further information is available from Breda Adamson, Specialist Co-ordinator, Centre of Nurse Education, (051), 848000 ext 2839
